Firmware

Code that runs for years on a coin cell, or handles millisecond control loops — matched to what your product actually needs.

  • Bare-metal & RTOS firmware
  • Embedded Linux for gateway-class devices
  • BLE / Wi-Fi / LoRa / cellular / Zigbee
  • Secure OTA update pipelines
  • Power profiling & battery-life tuning
  • Custom peripheral drivers

Where AI accelerates

  • Driver scaffolding
  • Protocol stack boilerplate
  • Register-map code generation
  • Unit test scaffolding
  • Bootloader/config boilerplate
  • Log/telemetry formatting code

Where it stays human

  • Real-time timing
  • Power-critical paths
  • Interrupt priority design
  • Field-failure triage
  • Watchdog/health-monitoring threshold tuning

On-Device Early Fall-Detection Wearable

US-based aging-in-place / digital-health wearable startup

A wearable analyzes motion data locally to identify movement patterns associated with potential falls, without continuously transmitting raw sensor data to the cloud.

Cold-Chain Shipment Monitor

US-based logistics / pharmaceutical supply-chain technology company

A connected monitoring device tracks temperature and environmental conditions in transit and storage, alerting when conditions move outside defined limits.

Multi-Sensor Water-Leak & Freeze Guard

US-based home-protection / smart-home startup

A connected home-protection sensor fuses multiple environmental signals to detect water leaks, freezing conditions and other potentially damaging events.

Common questions

What people ask before scoping this layer.

Which RTOS / wireless stacks do you work with?

FreeRTOS, Zephyr and bare-metal on the RTOS side; BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Zigbee and cellular on connectivity, chosen based on your power and range constraints, not by default. When a device is gateway- or compute-class rather than coin-cell, we take the same work to embedded Linux — board support, kernel and driver work, and the update path on top.

How do you handle OTA safely?

Signed, rollback-capable OTA pipelines with staged rollout — the update path is designed alongside the firmware, not bolted on after v1 ships.

What's the AI/human split in practice here?

AI scaffolds drivers and protocol-stack boilerplate; a senior firmware engineer owns real-time timing guarantees and every power-critical code path.

Can you extend battery life on an existing product?

Yes — power profiling and firmware-level tuning is a common standalone engagement when hardware is already locked.
